I'm a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Texas at Austin, in the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. Specifically, I am part of the PECOS group.

The Predictive Engineering and Computational Science (PECOS) group largely investigates uncertainty in large systems of nonlinear equations. One of our principal goals is to understand the effect of incorporating noisy observations into uncertain PDEs.

Software

I build a lot of scientific open source software. Here are some libraries for which I am a core developer:

  • matplotlib - plotting library written in Python
  • mpl_binutils - command-line utilities for quick matplotlib plots
  • QUESO - C++ library for doing uncertainty quantification
  • MASA - C++ library for verifying code that solves PDEs

I also have a GitHub profile should you wish to peruse some of my other open source contributions.

I hate that chime you hear when a Mac starts up. Here's an app I wrote that kills it:

  • Mount the .dmg;
  • Drag the app to your Applications folder;
  • Run the app;
  • I have no idea if this works on anything after OS X 10.6.
